James Reid |
The
works of James Reid reflects the resolution of conflict between opposite
through the use of chiaroscuro, often resulting in a sense of the ethereal.
This allows the work to achieve a sense of the celestial and heavenly,
to feel airy and delicate. Chiaroscuro (Italian for light-dark) is the
use of light and dark to achieve volume in modeling three dimensional
objects such as the human body and all that we see.
James is not only using traditional tools to achieve the desired results, but is also using the computer mouse (to draw/paint freehanded onto computer) to achieve the same results. He was academically trained at Florida A and M University, SF Academy of Art, SF Art Institute, and graduated with distinction from California College of the Arts. James is currently teaching computer art to low income children (1st-5th grade) in Oakland, CA and will assist any student with computer home placement. |
